Opening Doors in Motion Analysis Research

چکیده

This paper discusses the use of motion analysis techniques to establish a computational model of human motion. As a test case, we discuss an experiment that analyzes combined navigation and manipulation motions performed by human subjects. In this particular experiment, we have analyzed the action of walking to a door and opening the door in different settings. We have looked at different variables in this experiment, such as the body part that serves as the steering wheel, gender, and handedness. The results from this experiment form the first step toward a computational model of human motion.

Different Types of Door-Opening Motions as Contributing Factors to Containment Failures in Hospital Isolation Rooms

Hospital isolation rooms are vital for the containment (when under negative pressure) of patients with, or the protection (when under positive pressure) of patients, from airborne infectious agents. Such facilities were essential for the management of highly contagious patients during the 2003 severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) outbreaks and the more recent 2009 A/H1N1 influenza pandemic....

Embedding field research on mentored inclusive recreation in an urban population--the evolution of opening doors: project adventure.

Community-based interventions have greater relevance and a greater chance of success and sustainability when the community is collaboratively involved in the research process. Opening Doors: Project Adventure is a research project designed to evaluate the impact of community-based inclusive recreation, using supportive mentoring, on children and youth with disabilities and special health care n...

Learning to Plan for Constrained Manipulation from Demonstrations

Motion planning in high dimensional state spaces, such as for mobile manipulation, is a challenging problem. Constrained manipulation, e.g. opening articulated objects like doors or drawers, is also hard since sampling states on the constrained manifold is expensive. Further, planning for such tasks requires a combination of planning in free space for reaching a desired grasp or contact locatio...

Behavior-Based Door Opening with Equilibrium Point Control

Within this paper we present a set of behaviors that enable a mobile manipulator to reliably open a variety of doors. After a user designates a location within 20cm of the door handle, the robot autonomously locates the door handle using a tilting laser range finder, approaches the handle using its omnidirectional base, reaches out to haptically find the door, makes contact with the handle, twi...

Dynamic analysis of squat shear wall using nonlinear finite element method

Shear wall has been considered as a major lateral load-resisting element in multistoried building located in windor earthquake-prone zone. The behavior of shear wall under various loading conditions has been the subject of intense research for the last few decades. The behavior of shear walls without openings is completely well understood and well documented in literature. The use of squat shea...
